Electrifying rhymes, and beats highlight the dazzling elements served up in this Emeril quality mix easily satisfying fans hunger for exceptional hip hop music at its best. Setting precedence with the well laid intro “It’s Tuesday”, fans are delivered into captivation by a strong beat full of vibe, and hard hitting rhymes finely delivered. Following the introduction comes the highly explosive, and entertaining title track “Rock City” featuring Eminem whom links up with Royce who drops incredible lyrics on earlobes ready to explode. Both artists come off highly intense with mega-magnified performances, even though Eminem is limited to chorus duty with regards to his vocal involvement on the joint. Through-out the joint fans are “waiting to exhale” for a verse that never comes from the higher than life Eminem. Strong lyrics, and rhymes pave the way through the duration of tracks on the album. Closing properly with the “King of Kings” bonus track, this album etches a strong finish.

Leading the highlight tracks, “Rock City” is rock solid, and “U Can’t Touch Me” is highly explosive as Royce dynamically flips some of the most impressive verbal acrobatics that have blessed the microphone. An incredible beat heats up the stage for Royce’s rhymes that leave fans to cook in an inferno of talent. Following is “Mr. Baller” featuring Clipse, Pharrell, & Tre Little. A delightful joint sure to keep fans hype in the mix. Highlight tracks shine through-out the album, keeping close, and never at a distance. Impressive vocals, and beats stay strong long term, which is a rare quality amongst albums.

Each song featured on the album is unique in style; however, still keeping solid flow, and never sounding radically different. 15 tracks, approximately 62 minutes of strong hip hop music bless Rock City Version 2.0. Straight music, no weak interludes disrupt listening quality. No lack luster joints plague any of the music. Exceptional production adds significantly to the album, as the sound quality is magnificent. The album cover is well put together, and very informative for inquisitive fans. The CD also features an exclusive enhanced video clip of the “Rock City” video that is playable in your home computer. The strong contributions by Eminem, Amerie, Clipse, Pharrell, & Tre Little, as well as the intense production efforts by The Neptunes, DJ Premier, & Trackmasters add to Rock City’s strength, and impact on fans.

Rock City Version 2.0 has it all, proving to be a bright point for Royce 5’9″’s musical career. Hot hip hop music makes for happy fans whom which crave high octane, top quality rhymes, and beats. Through strong, intense play, and a powerful finish, Rock City Version 2.0 leaves fans craving the next version. The only disappointment fans may be subjected to is if the saga ends with Version 2.0.
