Solid Entity - Worth The WeightSolid Entity is an explosively fresh underground hip hop group consisting of two highly talented emcee’s ( Psychlone, Rekks ). “Worth the Weight” is a great debut album featuring many tracks that will appease fans with little effort. Talented underground emcee’s such as JayLC, and Specs make an appearance in one of the hottest tracks featured on the album ( “Caught In The CrossFire” ). The production, sound quality, packaging, lyricism, beats all give the impression that this is a professionally put together project, and the music featured on this hot album deliver fans that overly desired “Refreshing Underground Flavor”.”

Representing their hip hop music together for over a decade, Solid Entity has finally released an album for fans to enjoy. Refined flows, excellent production, well-written, and performed lyrics, exceptional performance chemistry ( comparable to Mike Control ), and impacting beats, the veteran duo clearly establishes many strong points on “Worth the Weight”. The title of this album is also a strong attribute to the albums positive aspects. Not only does the title have inner meaning, but it clearly gives fans a forecasting of what to expect from this refreshing album. One question remains, with over a decade of talent building, and skill honing, why is “Worth the Weight” this duo’s only album release to date? Perhaps this group was waiting to unleash the perfect display of skills, and good music; rather, than several un-peeked ep’s. Without a doubt this album is something for fans to thoroughly enjoy.

Some critics will direct their critiques at this albums production, and beats. Although the beats, and production of this album are substandard in comparison to commercial, and top level independent albums, they retain a refreshing underground vibe that fans will appreciate, and some other artists easily evade. In regards to the duo’s lyricism, some critiques may be directed towards the odd occasion where the group uses “suggestive” statements that give meaning to “parental advisory”, but the duo does lay-out their derogatory statements in a tasteful fashion. The content, and performance of the rhymes are almost flawless on every track. Rekk handles all of the albums twelve cuts on the beat production tip. Apparently Solid Entity had a choice to include tracks containing beats produced by DJ Kno, and the Freschest tandem of Johnny Cock and JL, but Rekk steps up to serve all of the beats for this album, and his group, and sometimes “doing it all yourself” is more respectful, especially when things turn out to be highly satisfying. Another strong critique critics will direct towards this album is its periodical inclination of “gimmicky” feelings that are minutely evident in certain tracks such as “Armed to the Teeth”, “Insanity”, etc. Truth be told, “gimmicky” is the last term you want associated with your album, and music.

Commonplace through-out “Worth the Weight” is well-written, and performed multi-syllabic lyricism that is uneasily matched, excellent flow, breath control, and delivery clearly evident in outstanding songs such as “Introspection”, and “Crazy In The Clutch”. Neither Psychlone, or Rekks gasp for breath, or break their flow in any of this albums twelve cuts. The quality of this album is paralleled through-out each, and every track performed. Back to the title, “Worth the Weight”, the albums title track, conceptually is about the duos beginnings in their career’s, and their struggle rising to the top of their game, or at least their current level. This adds to the conceptional feel this album harnesses.

The best tracks featured on this album are entitled “Crazy In The Clutch”, and “Caught In The CrossFire” featuring Specs, and JayLC. Both of these tracks are exceptional in many different aspects, and even though all of the tracks featured on this album are well put together, these two stand out by a small lead. The least appreciated cut on the album is entitled “Door to Darkness”, and is the albums opener. Usually, your weakest link isn’t your starting point; however, “Door to Darkness” is still a good track, its just shy of the level of the rest by a inch.

Worth the Weight” is a breath of fresh air to underground fans looking for something refreshing. The talent of Solid Entity, and their usage of their finely tuned skills truly add to the albums building qualities. In many different aspects this album delivers fans great music to enjoy. Hopefully its not too long before we see another release by this talented group as this group will move on to create many more great tracks for fans to enjoy.
