Smooty - Tame The Dark EPSmooty is a talented artist as proven with the release of the “Tame The Dark EP”. Smooty magnificently delivers captivating lyrics that immediately grab attention. The EP as a whole is a buffet of originality, creativity, and talent. Some critics will critique the EP’s artwork, the raw sound, and Smooty’s rugged voice; however, it is those elements that contribute to the EP’s underground edge. “Tame The Dark EP” is a fantastic independent release that leaves weak points few, and far between.

“Proletariats” and “Soul Mate Temp Service” are the two standout tracks featured on the EP. Smooty delivers his best lyrics, over the best beats featured on the EP. Fans are easily appeased, and can easily vibe the mellow, mind soothing aura of both of the tracks. They appear back to back on the EP. The rest of the tracks featured on the EP are hot; however, the two noted are standouts that should be released as singles for they are instant fan favorites.

Posse cuts like “Nobody” featuring 13th Floor, and Silent Assassin is a live wire track that is highly entertaining. One of the EP’s strong points is its contributions by other artists as hungry, and as talented as Smooty. Those artists include 13th Floor, Silent Assassin, ill Poetic, J Cro, & Dave Kestin. The production squad contributes the perfect polish to make the EP shine bright. The beats are continually banging, the lyrics are deeply penetrating, and the production is candy that constantly has fans drooling for more. Another strong point is the depth of most of the lyrical content featured on the EP, for example “Natural Instincts” gets fans open really wide, paralleling the achievement of most of the featured tracks.

Tame The Dark EP is a release worth listening to, and placing in heavy rotation. The whole package is complete, and serves fans some of the best music they have yet to hear.
