Nasir Jones just wants to spit. Always has always will. On the near classic “Stillmatic” God’s Son provides enough food for all our thoughts. With the napalm still fresh in the air from his feud with Jay-Z the Queens MC holds nothing back on the venomous “Ether” where Hova receives a lyrical lynching like no other. The thought provoking ” Your Da Man” warns of “broads who play with Pentagrams in they vagina” and claims the throne is his destiny. The most original and vivid joint comes in the form of “Rewind” where Nas spits an entire story….backwards. He also follows that with the ever increasingly rising spirit of “One Mic” where again Esco kicks the truth for todays youth. If it weren’t for the blatant “me and my crew” cuts like “Braveheart Party” and the snoringly boring “Smokin” this album could have cemented its way into a true hip hop classic. Instead we’re left with only his finest work since “Illmatic“.
