Josh Martinez is certainly a well developed lyricist, who is anything but ordinary, and predictable on the microphone. Equipt with a wide array of skills, Josh Martinez represents Halifax proudly. Josh Martinez captivates his listeners with his unique style, and verbal presentation, well at the same time, leaving them in awe with lyrics that at times leave you stunned, and flawless poetics that are so smooth its too slick. All of Josh’s lyrical attributes packed together, surely make the Hali Hundred a high point, as well as a certain success.”

Josh Martinez is an incredible artist, and the Hali Hundred is an incredible album. All of the rhymes on the album, seam as if they were effortlessly created, making good hip hop music seam easy to create. On the production are Nool, Deeskee, Gordski, Greymatter, Dert Roads, and Josh. The production is outstanding, every track being high quality, and definitely banging, in a smooth, relaxing, rhythmic fashion.

The best track on the album is entitled “Outlook”. This track is presented with a beat worthy of blessing the most rooted hip hop head, and a lyrical performance that is so diverse, that its easily captivating. The second best track on the album is entitled “La Rambla”, and is featured as the album opener. This track is a faster paced track, and is sure to get any crowd hype. The beat is moving, and the lyrics are just as solid. Something to make any fan toss both hands up, and jump.

Other notable tracks include “Big Mouths”, and “(Sic) Muse”, which are both destine to be sure shot hits in heavy rotation. Both tracks are backed with solid beats, and lyrics to match, not lacking any momentum or having any dips like most albums.

On the outside Hali Hundred is presenting like a low budget, underground album; however, on the inside, lays an array of what are sure to be some of the best hip hop tracks Josh will release. Hali Hundred comes with no production notes, not packaged, on a CD-R, with a sticker on the CD face out lining the tracks. If anything, at best, this is a good statement. Good hip hop music shouldn’t be based on the size of the production budget, the plastic wrap, or the album artwork, and cover; however, it should be based on quality of the music, which Hali Hundred definitely does not lack in any way, shape or form. A seriously ill album, for the seriously ill album junkies.

The Hali Hundred is one of the tightest albums Josh Martinez, and Anticon will ever release. It’s a breath taking, refreshing example of good hip hop music. The solid production, unique delivery, diverse style, creativity, inventive, innovative dynamics, solid lyricism, captivating sounds, rhythmic aura, and all the toppings make this album something every head should have in heavy rotation.
