Non Phixion - The Future is Now

The Brooklyn cats making up Non Phixion (Ill Bill, Gortex, Sabac Red, DJ Eclipse) recently released their debut LP, "The Future Is Now". However, they've left us impatient with a number of underground classics since about '96. Tracks like "Black Helicopters" and "I Shot Reagan" hovered the underground scene and kept heads bouncing while Non Phixion resolved label issues first with Serchlite Music (MC Serch) and Matador. Backed by exec. producer MC Serch and emcee/producer Necro (Ill Bill's brother) they've had five years to create a buzz and wait for the right distribution opportunity. Finally releasing upon their own "Uncle Howie Records" independent label, Non Phixion comes through with a 16 track LP.
With a dynamite production line-up that includes DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, The Beatnuts and Necro, and backed by Non Phixion's hardcore political lyrics, The Future is Now is nothing short of outstanding. Basing the content on conspiracy theories, cocaine sniffing politics and spy paranoia, Non Phixion pulls off a very unique genre with ease. Tracks like Premier produced party classic "Rock Stars", "Suicide Bomb" (w/ Beatnuts) based on the Sept. 11 tragedy, and Large Professor produced "Drug Music" will all definitely keep your volume dial cranked.

Maintaining the album's theme include tracks like "There is No Future", featuring Necro and his shameless stabbing style of wordplay, the paranoid "The CIA Is Trying To Kill Me", and the impressive "Cult Leader", which is laid down like the single that put Smoothe Da Hustla on the map.

This LP will eat the Brooklyn scene alive for 2002, and is must buy for just about any avid underground listener.
