Heat Factor: 9

Midriff Music is comprised of eleven tracks featuring well written and delivered lyrics, conceptual rhymes, chill beats, profound production and many interested sounds and cuts that will get fans wide open. Midriff Music is an outstanding album that delivers exceptional hip hop music for fans to enjoy. Josh Martinez effortlessly dazzles fans with his witty, smoothly delivered, mind opening rhymes. The freshest tracks on the album are “Cheers”, “Come and Gone”, “Just A Dood” and “Nightmare RMX”. These tracks are nothing less than hits. The beats are banging and the lyrics are razor sharp. “Cheers” packs a refreshing beat full of interesting sounds, smooth rhymes and a cool vibe. Well delivered lyrics flow harmoniously with the melodic sounds blessing the beat. The lyrical content is meaningful, metaphorical, easy to relate with and thought provoking. “Come and Gone” is an entertaining track featuring a captivating beat backing some laid back, witty, smoothly laid lyrics. “Just A Dood” sports a funky fresh vibe that will surely appease the most resistant critic. It’s hard to find critiques when music is this entertaining and well put together. All the elements are forged together tight.

One of the most impressive strengths Josh Martinez posses, besides his incredible flow, is his ability to convey and deliver common life concepts and everyday life subject matter in interesting and metaphorical ways. Josh Martinez has the knowledge and he delivers it in each and every track. Sometimes it takes a few listens to grasp just how deep his music is and to get the underlining message.

All the beats were produced by Samix, except for “Nightmare Rmx” which was produced by Aalo Guha. The beats are always on point, creative, captivating and catchy. Each beat connects perfectly to the next to give “Midriff Music” a harmonious feel. Tracks like “Time Alone” and “One More Sucka” highlight the incredible talents of Samix that evidently run deep. “Time Alone” is a dazzling beat featuring some mesmerizing keys and dance through heads like ballerinas on stage. It’s the kind of beat that is felt deep inside, cultivating powerful emotion on the chill vibe. “One More Sucka” is at times smooth and at times abrasive. It’s a nice mixture of interesting sounds and cuts that easily entertain and nod heads.

Midriff Music delivers and is one of those fresh albums fans need to listen to and play in heavy rotation. This album can be played over without ever a need to hit skip or stop. It’s as close as the perfect listen as fans will get on an album.
