The Pale Knight started rapping as an eight-year-old in Florida immediately after hearing a bootleg copy of Run-DMC#8217;s first record in 1983 The Knight continued rapping and writing lyrics throughout high school and college often entertaining entire house parties with his freestyle improvisational rhymes In high school the Knight began playing guitar and discovered his other musical love #8211; the blues
Over the next several years the Pale Knight played in different bands throughout Florida and New York City honing his guitar skills and struggling to fit the music in his head into a conventional rock band format It proved exceedingly difficult to find musicians open-minded enough to combine all the elements of the Pale Knight#8217;s musical personality #8211; hip hop blues rock pop punk etc
Finally in 1998 the Pale Knight went out on his own writing the music that would become his debut CD New Millennium Blues Raised on a strong diet of classic rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd Led Zeppelin) early hip hop (Slick Rick Run-DMC) blues and Ramp;B (Jimi Hendrix Robert Johnson Isaac Hayes) and pop and funk (James Brown Prince) the Pale Knight at last managed to combine these diverse elements into one coherent addictive head bobbing sound #8211; the New Millennium Blues
Performing alone using his guitar as a beat box the Pale Knight honed his new sound at the toughest live venue in New York City #8211; the subway system! Truly playing to survive the Pale Knight would walk from car to car day in and day out slowly winning over the notoriously cynical New York audience Within several months the Knight was making upwards of $25 an hour on the trains and began working on his debut album
