Once again Brooklyn the Planet” has spit out another Emcee that represents the soul of the original streets and attitude of the East The name “Bekay” will be forever implanted into your memory once you experience the depth of emotion pouring out of this 22 year-old Jewish lyrical geniusnbsp; He definitely has a unique style that gives the listener an insight into the reality of life in New Yorks largest borough Bekay has proven that his writing talent alone enables him to not just be “Bekay” but to indulge many different topics in his music These range from the club scene to the streets to even “role playing” and telling the life a young boy growing up in middle America through his eyes His versatility and writing talents are impeccable and can not be denied His story is one that hasn’t been told yet in today’s hiphop world The view of a White Jewish kid in New York’s largest borough BROOKLYNnbsp; Bekay’s only wish is to bring this unique view and story of growing up in Brooklyn to the people!!!
Bekay made an appearance on BETS 106th and park battle around Febuary of 2002 As may be seen on video he has gained more than just acceptance as an emcee by the black community This is hard to do for a white kid trying to get in to this game which he hasn’t started but wishes to pursue The predominantly black crowd cheered Bekay’s clever and witty punchlines as he embarrassed the previous champion who never saw it coming Hip hop is constantly becoming more universal I believe Bekay is a prime example of that
Bekay competed for a spot on this fall’s airing of MTV’s “Making the Band” The competition consisted of over 17000 artists from seven of Americas largest cities Needless to say Bekay made it through every round and down to the final 40 out of 17000!!Due to a problem involving contractual obligations Bekay decided to pass on the opportunity He may still be seen on the initial taping’s of the show as he was a staff favorite at MTV
Bekay has also participated in numerous emcee battles from Brooklyn to Albany verbally stomping over the competition that comes in his path He has also done numerous shows in Manhattan’s well knownnbsp; hiphop club “SOB’s” as well as “Pyramid” and “The Knitting Factory” He is in no way shy or amateur when it comes to stage performances
Bekay had a friend of his set up a webpage for him about 11nbsp; months ago Despite its amateur design the statistics have baffled Bekay and his camp as it has already received over 15000 hits!!! This is a highly impressive feat for an artist with no budget promotion or label backing to have such a large followingnbsp; The guestbook speaks for itself with entry after entry praising Bekay’s lyrical skill and overall talent His fan-base is NOT one of a regional nature He has fans all across the country from Ohio to Washington and internationally from Canada to Australia as may be seen upon viewing his guestbook He receives e mail regularly from his fans mostly young girls who constantly ask the same question ”When is your album coming out?” He has sold about 5500 CD’s that he has burned in his own house to people who haggle him frequently for copies
Bekay is a producer well as an emcee He has various artists who he works with who use his beats to do their own songs Bekay has also been a DJ for approximately 7 years but has strayed away recently to concentrate on his lyrics and own songs This Jewish white kid from Brooklyn is the definition of hiphop in every sense of its word!!! He is very passionate about this culture and only wishes to have a chance to let the world in on his story
The combination of this young mans drive to succeed and broad talent in writing and delivering mind boggling lyrics WILL carry him to the top of this Hip Hop industry With all the commercial and glitzy glamour of the music industry today Bekays only wish is to keep focused on the prize but more importantly to stay true to the art form that has become a moving force in American culture “Bekay”nbsp; To put it simply ““HIP-HOP IS INFECTEDnbsp; AND BEKAYS THE F**KIN ANTIDOTE”” The future of Hip-Hop begins here
